"After the excitement of winning a return flight to Barbados (first visit), with accommodation to be provided compliments of Tropical Connections, I suddenly realised I had to plan it all. Organising the flights was a bit tricky, but Tropical Connections were fantastic in arranging the accommodation to suit. All queries were answered quickly and efficiently. Even when I had to change the holiday dates, it was no trouble. They organised the taxi transfers between the airport to our accommodation and rental of a hire car with a company who couldn’t do enough to help us. All of the people that the company deals with cannot be faulted. The apartment owner came and introduced himself to us. His apartments are well maintained and our two-bed apartment had everything we needed for our visit. No need to load your suitcases down with non-essentials like washing up liquid, soaps, tea towels etc, leaving loads more space for holiday souvenirs. The apartments were also in close proximity to the main road (although no noise was heard at night) enabling you to catch the local buses that run from early morning to late at night and covering most of the island, making Barbados your oyster.

We wish to thank Tropical Connections for sharing their extensive knowledge with us and making our holiday a very relaxed and enjoyable experience."

"Thank you for your part in arranging this holiday.

Barbados indeed is a lovely island and as I am big on scenic photography, had plenty of opportunity.

The area in Maxwell suited us fine, as we are both great fish lovers and tried to taste as many different food types at Oistins.  We even went to the ‘Jump Up’ on Friday night.

The transport was brilliant. They should adopt that policy all over the world, with the Government buses and the ‘Reggae’ buses.  Taxi fares a little pricey, but then that’s taxis for you.

Experienced Kensington Oval and Mount Gay (for him), Harrisons Cave, The Flower Centre and the Holetown Festival.  Had fun in St. Lawrence Gap. We had a fantastic 6-hour tour of the island going through the history and landmarks. We also scuba dived (me for the first time).

All in all, very restful and enjoyable. It was lovely and credit to you for your recommendations."

"Tropical Connections have been an absolute Godsend with regards to the sale of an estate and land in Carriacou. Maureen has such a wealth of knowledge and information in all aspects of property sale/purchase, which she always imparts to her clients in a comprehensible and professional manner, and always with such enthusiasm. A resounding 10 out of 10!  I would strongly recommend Tropical Connections for all your Caribbean real estate requirements."

"My husband died in January 1988. Since then my daughter and I have tried to transfer title ownership for a plot of land we jointly owned in Jamaica to myself. Due to the complicated Caribbean system this has proved to be a nightmare. We contacted Maureen of Tropical Connections earlier this year after seeing her company advertised for a property expo in Manchester. From the start Maureen has been friendly, professional and reliable. Her thorough knowledge of the Caribbean system has helped us get to the point where we can now sell the property. We have of course put this in Maureen’s expert hands and hope to find a buyer soon. We would definitely recommend Tropical Connections in the future."

“Back in May 2005, my husband and I made a trip to Barbados on the advice of Maureen Smith and Tropical Connections, to purchase a property. While down there, we decided we would buy ourselves a nice plot of land and build our own house instead. It was not to be an easy journey, as the company selling us the land were not in that much of a hurry to relieve us of our money!

With the help and knowledge of Maureen and her experience of the Caribbean, we realised that good things come to those who wait. Her advice, legal experience, forthright attitude and friendliness have aided us in finally completing one stage of our dream. If we, or any of our friends, decide to do another project like this in the Caribbean, Maureen will be our first port of call”.

“My wife and I attended Barbados Expo 2006 with a view to finding a suitable property for investment in the short term and as a base for retirement in a few years time. We discussed our plans with a number of companies but were particularly impressed with the services of Tropical Connections and with Maureen’s energy and enthusiasm.

Maureen subsequently found us a property that meets our needs and has provided excellent advice and guidance on the legal process, financial matters and other aspects of the island. I would strongly recommend Tropical Connections to anyone contemplating a property purchase for occupation or rental in Barbados”.

“It was my dream to purchase property in Barbados, but I am a single parent without a lot of money. Maureen Smith of Tropical Connections showed me how I could achieve my dream within my budget. With her help I first purchased land in the upmarket location I wanted, and we then got contractors to build my house later.

The process was pretty quick. The land purchase started in July and was completed in December. The house building started in January and is due to be ready in July. Meanwhile, my neighbour in England has been chasing his builders for 20 months and they are still not ready! He should have gone to Maureen. She is a helpful and professional person, who has been really supportive and encouraging in advising me on the correct procedures to follow.

She has lots of energy and was behind me 110%. I couldn’t have done it without her and I would always choose Tropical Connections if I had to do it all over again. Now I have my dream holiday home in Barbados where the weather is great”!

“My mum died and left us two plots of land in Barbados. I don’t know the rules in Barbados so I have the deeds to an attorney there to sell the land for us. That was four or five years ago but he did nothing except send me a bill for nearly BDS $5,000.00.

I went to the Barbados High Commission and they recommended Tropical Connections because of their experience in the UK and the Caribbean.

Maureen Smith has done wonders for me. She has been helpful, efficient and reliable, keeping me up-to-date on everything. I now have the Power of Attorney from my father so I am in a position to deal with the matter, and as soon as Maureen sells the land we will be able to divide the proceeds equally as Mum intended”.

“I had some land to sell in Barbados. Tropical Connections found me a buyer quite quickly but there was some problem with the attorney sending the money to the UK. However, Maureen Smith is still helping me even though the deal is completed. It can be a nightmare for people over here dealing with business over there, but she won’t take any nonsense from them and deals with matters very well.

I’ve also booked excellent holiday accommodation through Tropical Connections, with no problem at all. I highly recommend Maureen to every person who wants a property for a holiday in the Caribbean. She is a good communicator who goes out of her way to make sure you get a fair deal”.
