The Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM)

The Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) came into existence on 1st  August 1973 with the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. Today CARICOM is made up of fifteen (15) Member States and five (5) Associate Members.

CARICOM Member States (15)

Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

CARICOM Associate Members (5)

Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)

The OECS came into existence with the signing of the Treaty of Basseterre by seven Eastern Caribbean islands on 18th June 1981. Since then two further Caribbean islands have joined the OECS as Associate Members.

OECS Member States (7)

Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

OECS Associate Members (2)

Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
